Daniel Morden

Daniel Morden is a Hay Festival Medal award winning Welsh oral storyteller who lives and works from Abergavenny and also an award winning published author.

Daniel has twice won the English-language section of the Welsh Books Council’s Theatr na n-Og awards, first in 2007 for Dark Tales from the Woods, based on Welsh folktales, and then in 2013 for Tree of Leaf and Flame, a collection of stories retelling the Mabinogion. He has performed all over the world, in schools and theatres, at festivals and on the radio at the National Theatre, the Barbican, The Getty Centre, Sydney Writers Festival and The Albert Hall for example. Daniel’s collaborations with Hugh Lupton on Greek myths won the Classical Association Award .

In 2023, Daniel was invited as a guest artist for the English language programme of Festival Interculturel du conte de Montreal, where there is strong, ongoing interest in stories about the stars.
